Terms and Conditions

Driver License

The renter and each additional driver must produce a full valid driving license, which they have held for at least two years at the time of rental.

Age Requirement

Minimum age 21 years
Maximum age 70 years

Rental Over 70 years

For drivers between 71 - 75 years the presentation of a medical certificate to the rental representative is imperative.

Drivers

Only the renter or other persons approved by Butterfly are permitted to drive the car.

Minimum rental period

1 day (equivalent to 24 hours)

Unlimited Mileage

All rentals, irrespective of the length of rental are inclusive of unlimited mileage.

Fuel Policy

Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as when they were hired. Should a vehicle be returned without being refueled a service fee will apply equal to the cost of refueling the vehicle.

Traffic Contraventions

All contraventions (i.e. Traffic fines, clamping, etc) incurred during the rental period will be the renter's responsibility.

Street Directories/Maps

Free maps are available to clients with every rental.

Breakdown Service

In the event of a breakdown and/or collision Butterfly offers a 24 hour emergency road service.

Baby Seats

Baby seats are available at a additional charge of LM 1.00 / € 2.33 daily (payable locally) State age of child. For babies under 6 months clients must use own seat.

Delivery and Collection

Car deliveries and collections are made free of
charge during office hours with any location in Malta with the exception of the Airport or Harbor Terminal which are subject to an additional fee of LM 5.00 / € 11.65 per rental.

Additional Driver

Additional drivers may be inserted in the rental agreement at an additional charge of LM 1.00 / € 2.33 daily and its payable locally.

Amendments

Reservations can be amended without charge. Please direct all communications to the Butterfly office or info@butterflycarretanls.com quoting the booking reference.

Office Hours

Office hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Payment

We accept all major Credit Cards, cash or Travellers Cheques if no Credit Card is held by the hirer a deposit equal to the cost of the rental can be made by cash or travelers cheques.

Fleet

Car Groups/Models: All booking are confirmed by group and vehicles supplied may be a different make and model to that advertised. In such cases we reserve the right to have a vehicle of similar size/specification supplied.

Cancellations

Cancellation charges are as follows:

A charge of 1 day rental applies to all cancellations notified up to 7 working days before start of hire. Shorter notice may incur higher charges, depending on vehicle and location. A charge of 3 days rental applies for no-shows at destination or failure to produce relevant documents including driving license. A charge of 1 day rental applies to any unused days, early returns or cancellations after the hire start date. For cancellations, please contact the reservations office quoting your booking reference.

Excess

The excess for drivers between 21 and 25 years is LM 250.00 / € 582.34 for drivers over 25 the excess is LM 150.00 / € 349.41.

Collision Damage Waiver

CDW excess is at LM 150.00 / € 349.41 for drivers over 25 years and this may be waivered at a charge of LM 3.00 / € 6.99 daily. For drivers between 21 and 25 years the excess is at LM 250.00 / € 582.34 and it can not be waivered.

Personal Accident Insurance

PAI gives increased protection to the renter
and their passengers for the loss of life and accident bodily injury.
PAI is available at LM 2.00 / € 4.66 daily for all car
groups and its payable locally.

Theft Protection

TF is available at LM 2.00 / € 4.66 daily for all car
groups and its payable locally.

Liability Insurance

LI is available at LM 2.00 / € 4.66 daily for all car
groups and its payable locally.

Wrong Fuel

The hirer will be liable for any repairs resulting from use of the wrong fuel (for example, diesel in the tank instead of unleaded petrol).
